and the winner is....

Last week Juice ran a competition where their clients had to predict who would win the Leading Man and Leading Lady Awards at the Academy Award Ceremony last night in LA. Clients had to guess both winners correctly and the client taking the prize is SunIsle Holidays in Bristol. So well done to them for having such great movie knowledge, knowing that Jeff Bridges' and Sandra Bullock would take the Oscars last night.
Tickets to the movies and a Gong of their own will be making their way to their Bristol offices soon.

juice recruitment disagree that recruiters do not deliver value for money

The recruitment industry is being urged to promote the value recruiters collectively bring to the recruitment process.

The call comes from Jim Albert, Managing Director of Modis International, following research by Modis that showed 72% of companies did not believe recruiters currently delivered value for money. The research also showed that 1 in 3 companies want to develop deeper relationships with their recruitment consultancies and focus more on developing true business partnerships, rather than employing low cost transactional recruitment models.

"This research is a definite wake up call for our industry to prove its worth," Albert said. "Over the past 18 months the recruitment industry has become a margin conversation as employers looked to drive down costs. But as we recover from recession, employers are once again demanding that recruiters deliver a true value-added service. As an industry, we need to shift our focus from a cost-based cycle to a value based approach going forward. We are at a point where we have a terrific opportunity to reframe the conversation with our clients."

Juice Recruitment have continued praise from their clients in all of the Cities they work and believe understanding the clients needs and requirements is key to offering a prestige service. We are committed to both our candidates and clients, ensuring all are involved and dedicated to making the whole process of recruitment as straight forward as possible.

Testimonials have included "Thank you for the excellent service you have provided in finding us what is hopefully going to be a fabulous new Customer Services Manager. You have made recruiting easy and taken all the hard work out of it for us. Going through the process with you we have been able to improve on our interviews techniques, define what type of candidates we are looking for and have some fun along the way! You have been fantastic to work with, a very professional service. Thank you once again”

"We have used Juice Recruitment for many years & literally would not use anyone else! More recently we started a new company & getting the right people in is paramount to its success. Juice delivered an extremely high grade of candidate for a number of positions including Graphic Designers, Software Developers & Administration staff. Combining the candidate put forward & the level of follow-up service from the team at Juice, they are second to none"

As the economy continues its path to fragile recovery, the role of recruiters will become increasingly important as organisations look to attract the highest calibre people to help their business grow and develop. High touch recruitment consultancies will once again help drive that activity and become the standard bearer for the recruitment conversation.

Albert said: "By focusing on the core concerns of our clients around quality, the effective use of time, and growth, we will be able to open the door to deeper conversations around the value of recruitment. Those conversations will inevitably translate into more productive and effective relationships, and ultimately a greater reputation for our industry."

paternity rights update

Many fathers are unaware of their paternity rights, according to the government as it starts a new awareness campaign for dads.

A small survey of 560 fathers found that a fifth were not sure whether their employer offered flexible working arrangements. From April 2011, new mothers can transfer the second half of their year-long maternity leave to the father. But a recent survey suggested many fathers could not afford the time off.

Rights
The law states that fathers are entitled to two weeks' paid paternity leave, paid at £123.06 a week, if they have at least 26 weeks' service with their employer by the 15th week before the baby is due. Expectant fathers should tell their employer about taking paternity leave by the 15th week before the baby is due. They can take up to 13 weeks of unpaid leave until their child is five years old. Many businesses offer extra flexible working arrangements to fathers, which dads can request.

Now the government is running a month-long campaign with leaflets and posters explaining fathers' rights.
"We know that rights for dads at work are valued by people and that businesses also see real benefits in offering them, but our research shows that there are still some dads out there that are not aware of what they are entitled to and therefore risk missing out," said Employment Relations Minister Lord Young. "Our campaign is all about making sure dads know what they can do and to help them have more confidence as they weigh up what works best for them and their family. The key is to talk to their employer."

Pay plans
In October, a Equality and Human Rights Commission survey found that almost half of working fathers did not take their right to two weeks' statutory paternity leave because they could not afford to. The Commission said paternity pay should be increased from the statutory £123 a week to 90% of fathers' actual pay.

In January, the government announced a parents' leave plan that would mean if a mother returns to work, the father could take six months off with half of the period paid at £123.06 week. The Conservatives said the plans, which were first set out in 2004, had been repeatedly postponed and trailed behind their own proposals.

employers confident on uk jobs growth

Confidence is returning among employers, according to the latest JobsOutlook survey from the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC).

In the latest survey, a total of 94% of employers expect either to maintain or grow their permanent workforces in the next 12 months. The survey also shows that one in four employers is planning to increase their temporary workforce in the next year which highlights the important flexibility that contract and temporary work provides to employers and jobseekers looking to get back into the jobs market.

The latest JobsOutlook also shines the light on the specific attributes that employers are looking for from new recruits as they start to lift their recruitment freezes with communication and interpersonal skills topping in the list.

Roger Tweedy, the REC's Director of Research said: "Increasing employer confidence is looking like resulting in more hiring over the coming year. Businesses are naturally cautious about the economic recovery which is why the provision of temporary and contract work will continue to provide a useful outlet.

"Looking ahead, the REC is seeking Government action to remove the barriers to growth and job creation such as increased business taxation and employment regulations. It is still a long road back to full employment in the UK and we are concerned that the squeeze on public expenditure could negate some of the upside we are seeing from private sector employers."
